Stauffer’s Butcher Barn is located on the Dixon Family Farm in Mechanicsville, MD, where Jen Stauffer (Dixon) was raised. In 2017, Steven and Jen built their home on the farm. Just one year later, construction began on one of the old Dixon tobacco barns. The barn was built by Jen’s Grandfather R Johns and Great Uncles Bill and Bob Dixon. The barn definitely needed some work but the family just didn’t see a reason not to utilize it in some way for the butcher shop. So, they built the shop inside of the barn.
The saying “it takes a village” held true for this project. With the help of their parents, siblings, and many others, the shop was ready for operation a few months later. As you can imagine, working alongside family, there were a lot of laughs along the way. Have you ever seen a grown man on a ladder with his hair caught in electrical wire? Yeah, quite an animated sight and as funny as it sounds!
We cannot thank everyone enough who have helped us along the way. We simply could not have done it without them. We are very proud of what we have turned our business into in a short amount of time. There are move renovations to come we are pretty excited about. Stay tuned!
